A therapist intern at a Florida addiction treatment facility was arrested this week and charged with sexual misconduct by a psychotherapist for allegedly having sex with a patient under her care. Michelle Luchau-Rebora, 32, is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 42-year-old male patient at New Hope CORPS in Homestead, a nonprofit drug and alcohol addiction treatment facility. The alleged relationship occurred from June to September 2025, according to legal documents.

Authorities claim Luchau-Rebora had sexual intercourse with the patient during therapy sessions. It is also alleged that she facilitated his departure from the restricted facility on multiple occasions, allowing them to engage in sexual activity at her home, her mother's home in Key Biscayne, and at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The patient was reportedly informed not to disclose the relationship to anyone, as it could jeopardize Luchau-Rebora's career.

The alleged victim reportedly informed New Hope CORPS about the relationship after Luchau-Rebora ended it. The facility then contacted law enforcement. Luchau-Rebora was subsequently fired from her internship.

She was charged with sexual misconduct by a psychotherapist, a third-degree felony in Florida that carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Luchau-Rebora surrendered to the Homestead Police Department on Wednesday and was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a $5,000 bond. She posted bail and was released the same evening. A court order mandates that she have no contact with the alleged victim.

When approached by a reporter as she left jail, Luchau-Rebora said: 'Can you leave me alone, please? This is kind of weird. I really don't want to add anything right now'

When approached by a reporter after her release from jail, Luchau-Rebora declined to comment, stating, "I am not gonna comment on anything. You can ask my lawyer." She added, "Can you leave me alone, please? This is kind of weird. I really don't want to add anything right now."

In a statement, New Hope CORPS Executive Director Stephen Alvarez said the facility promptly reported the allegations to the authorities, terminated the intern's position, and cooperated fully with the investigation. He described the situation as unfortunate.
