An 18-year-old Florida teen sustained serious injuries after a pickup truck involved in a crash hit him while he was getting a haircut in the median of a road for a TikTok video. The incident occurred Sunday night in Ocala, Florida.
According to the Ocala Police Department, the teen and two other men, aged 19 and 20, had set up in the median on SW College Road to film the haircut for social media. Around 8:10 p.m., a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a Lexus SUV collided near the filming location. The impact sent the Silverado into the group, striking the 18-year-old.
First responders transported the injured teen to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. Officials stated that neither driver showed signs of intoxication. No other injuries were reported.
Witnesses described hearing tires screeching before the collision. One of the other men present recalled the moment of impact, saying, "We were on the ground. We're pancakes and flapjacks, flying."
The group had initially been cutting hair on the sidewalk before moving to the median. The two uninjured men told Fox35 News that they chose the median because they believed it was safer than attempting to film in the traffic lanes.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Bystanders expressed concern about the growing trend of dangerous stunts performed for social media, with one witness stating, "The likes ain’t worth your life."
