Florida Teen Framed in Fake Shooting Threat After Being Beaten by Nine Classmates

Florida authorities have debunked a fake shooting threat that was fabricated to discredit a 17-year-old student who was allegedly beaten by nine classmates. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the threat was non-credible after interviewing the teen victim and his family, according to local news outlets.

Investigators stated that the false rumor was intended to make the victim appear malicious and distract from the off-campus assault that resulted in the arrests of nine Harmony High School students. Maj. Alejandro Guevara of the Sheriff's Office emphasized that anyone spreading misinformation or misleading the investigation would face criminal charges.

The football game between Harmony High and St. Cloud High School proceeded as scheduled on Friday night. The alleged ringleaders of the attack, 18-year-olds Brian Alexander Ramirez and Quianelle Antonio Reyes-Cintron, appeared in court on Thursday. Reyes-Cintron's attorney argued that there was no evidence their client physically touched the victim, despite video evidence cited in court documents.

The nine students, one as young as 14, were arrested following the release of a video showing them assaulting a fellow student. The victim reportedly intervened when he saw the group bullying a girl in the school cafeteria. After an initial argument, the victim left the cafeteria with the girl. He was later followed to the parking lot by one of the initial bullies, who was joined by eight others in the attack. The victim sustained injuries requiring 11 stitches to his head.

Capt. Kimberly Montes of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office described the attack as a "serious attack" and called the accused students "cowards," advocating for them to be tried as adults. She commended the victim for his courage in standing up for someone else.
