A Florida biology teacher, Brooke Anderson, 28, has been sued by a former student who claims the teacher's "heinous sex acts" led to a loss of faith in God. Anderson is currently serving a 30-month prison sentence after being convicted of sex crimes against the student in June.

The lawsuit alleges that Anderson began grooming the student in 2021. The relationship reportedly started innocuously enough, with the student eating lunch in Anderson's classroom during his first two years at Riverview High School in Tampa. However, as the student entered his junior year, Anderson allegedly began sending him text messages of a "very graphic, sexual nature." This trend escalated into the student's senior year, according to the civil complaint.

In April 2025, Anderson is accused of sending the student "sexually provocative" images before allegedly raping him in her classroom the following month. The student was under Florida's age of consent at the time of the abuse, the suit states.

Anderson pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of unlawful sexual activity, in the criminal case. The civil suit claims Anderson's actions resulted in "permanent psychological injuries" to the student, specifically citing a loss of faith. The former student is seeking $100,000 in damages from Anderson.

The lawsuit also seeks $50,000 from the Hillsborough County School Board, alleging commercial negligence for allowing Anderson to remain employed at the school. The school board declined to comment on the lawsuit to the Daily Mail.
