A solo scuba diver who went missing off Florida's Gulf Coast has been found dead, authorities confirmed Sunday.
LeeAnn Fay Sellers, 41, was discovered floating in the water approximately 200 feet offshore from Treasure Island Beach. First responders recovered her body on Sunday morning.
Officials stated that Sellers had embarked on a solo dive off Treasure Island Beach on Friday, July 3, and did not return. Her husband reported her missing that evening. This prompted Treasure Island Fire Rescue and other local agencies to initiate a large-scale search.
Despite extensive efforts, crews were unable to locate Sellers. The search concluded tragically when a fisherman spotted what appeared to be a body floating offshore at approximately 6:45 a.m. Sunday.
Treasure Island police officers and fire rescue personnel responded to the scene and recovered the body, confirming it was Sellers. She was still wearing her scuba diving equipment at the time of recovery.
The Pinellas County Medical Examiner's office will determine the official cause and manner of Sellers' death. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances of her disappearance and have not indicated whether foul play is suspected. The investigation remains ongoing.
