Florida Rep. Randy Fine decisively won his Republican primary election Tuesday, defeating far-right influencer Dan Bilzerian, whose campaign featured anti-Semitic statements and imagery, including a suggestion that Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler should be reassessed.
With two-thirds of the vote counted, Fine secured 56.7% of the vote compared to Bilzerian's 18%. Bilzerian's campaign produced a commercial that referred to Fine with anti-Semitic slurs and used artificial intelligence to depict Fine as overweight and embracing money, while frequently displaying the Israeli flag. The ad also included footage of Hitler with a singer questioning whether his views should be revisited.
Bilzerian also posted on social media, including an image with the caption, "District 6 understands the jewish [sic] problem." In another post, he stated, "It’s not red against blue. It’s us against the Jew."
These campaign tactics drew a rare bipartisan condemnation. House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries both issued rebukes of Bilzerian's conduct.
Fine, who has faced accusations of Islamophobic comments in the past, is anticipated to win the general election in the heavily Republican district, located on Florida's Eastern Coast and encompassing Daytona Beach.
Fine won a special election in April 2025 to fill the seat previously held by Mike Waltz, who was appointed by President Trump as national security adviser before becoming the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Fine's past controversial statements include suggesting in a May interview that nuclear weapons should be used on the Gaza Strip, stating, "In World War II, we did not negotiate a surrender with the Nazis. We did not negotiate a surrender with the Japanese. We nuked the Japanese twice in order to get unconditional surrender. That needs to be the same here." In February, Fine also wrote on X, "If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one," and on a Sunday, he declared, "Jihadi [Zohran] Mamdani does not belong as Mayor of NYC. He needs to be deaturalized and sent back home to Uganda."
