Florida Rapper Convicted of Murdering Girlfriend and Unborn Child Requests Death Penalty
Billy Adams III, also known as Ace Nh, has asked a judge to impose the death sentence.
A Florida rapper convicted of murdering his pregnant girlfriend and their unborn child has made a striking request to the judge overseeing his case: he wants to be sentenced to death.
Billy Adams III, 28, who performs under the name Ace Nh, gunned down Alana Sims, 22, in 2023. Prosecutors stated that Adams killed Sims because he was not ready to become a father, though it was later revealed the unborn child was not his. Sims was five months pregnant at the time of her death. The murder occurred days after Adams had been acquitted in a separate double-murder case.
In a handwritten letter submitted to Tampa Circuit Judge Mark Wolfe on October 12, Adams pleaded for the judge to follow the jury's recommendation for a death sentence. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 1.
"I don’t have an issue with the death penalty," Adams wrote in the letter. He also instructed his legal team not to present any mitigating factors or arguments during the upcoming hearing.
Despite Adams's request, the final decision on whether he receives a life sentence or the death penalty rests with Judge Wolfe. The state of Florida has a history of capital punishment, with the Death Penalty Information Center noting a significant number of executions in recent years.
