A Florida couple has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of their 7-week-old infant daughter, who authorities say died from "violent shaking" and blunt force trauma. Gracie Jai Tellez, 20, and Robert Lee Ingram, 22, were taken into custody on Aug. 7 in Jacksonville.
The infant was discovered unresponsive and cold at the couple's Hollywood home on Oct. 14, 2025, after Tellez called 911. The baby was transported to a hospital, where she was declared brain dead four days later. Her organs were donated before she was removed from life support. The death was subsequently ruled a homicide.
Autopsy results revealed significant injuries, including blunt force trauma to the head, brain injuries, bleeding in both eyes, retinal detachments, and skull fractures. Investigators stated these injuries were consistent with non-accidental head trauma and violent shaking.
According to an affidavit, Tellez and Ingram initially told detectives that the infant was in good health and that they had placed her in her bassinet to sleep, monitoring her via FaceTime. However, phone records indicated that in the hours before the baby was found unresponsive, the couple was allegedly playing the video game "Call of Duty."
