Florida Mother Arrested for Allegedly Leaving Children Home Alone for Cruise
Police found four young children, including an infant, hiding in a bathroom when they responded to a welfare check.
A Florida mother has been arrested and charged with child neglect after allegedly leaving her four young children home alone to embark on a four-day cruise to the Bahamas. Nathalie Belizaire, 29, was taken into custody by North Miami Beach Police on Monday as she disembarked from a Carnival Conquest cruise ship.
According to an arrest report, one of the children's fathers contacted police after Belizaire posted about her cruise on social media. She had told him the children were with their great-grandmother, but the father became concerned when he visited the home on Saturday night and found the children alone. First responders gained entry to the apartment and discovered all four children, including a two-month-old and a two-year-old, "hiding together in the bathroom."
Police stated that while Belizaire had reportedly arranged for the great-grandmother to care for the children, the relative informed investigators that Belizaire never brought them to her. Authorities also noted that Belizaire had texted her brother, asking him to check on her children over the weekend.
Belizaire faces four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. She is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. Information on the status of a previous legal case, in which Belizaire was arrested in January 2025 for allegedly pepper-spraying a neighbor, was not immediately available.
