A Florida man was arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated assault, after an alleged confrontation involving dog feces and a child's scooter, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Trey Decloedt, 35, was taken into custody on Aug. 8 following an incident at a Leesburg home the previous day. The arrest affidavit states that Decloedt became enraged over a dispute with his neighbors regarding dog waste left on their properties.
According to the account provided to deputies, Decloedt entered his neighbor's home without permission, carrying feces. He then allegedly threw the waste at the homeowner, striking him. The situation devolved into a physical fight, during which Decloedt is accused of punching the neighbor in the face. Deputies reported observing a red mark on the neighbor's forehead.
The confrontation escalated further when Decloedt reportedly grabbed a child's metal scooter and made threats while holding it in a menacing manner, according to the affidavit.
Decloedt provided deputies with his version of events, stating that the neighbor had messaged him to discuss the dog poop issue. He claimed the neighbor then shoved him through the doorway, initiating the fight. Decloedt also mentioned a prior understanding between the neighbors that allowed them to enter each other's homes without knocking.
However, the neighbor reportedly provided deputies with a recording indicating that Decloedt had previously been told he was no longer welcome on the property or inside the house due to the ongoing feces dispute.
Deputies found animal feces outside the home following the incident. Decloedt was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, simple battery, and burglary. He was released on a $16,000 bond on Aug. 9 and is scheduled for his next court appearance on Aug. 31.
