A Florida man was arrested Thursday afternoon following a two-hour standoff with police after he allegedly threatened an Amazon delivery driver with a gun over a misdelivered package. George Manuel Mandes, 57, barricaded himself inside his Wilton Manors condominium before authorities convinced him to surrender.

The incident began when the Amazon driver mistakenly placed a package at Mandes' door. Security footage showed the driver retrieving the package after realizing the error and proceeding to the correct unit. The driver confirmed the mistake to police.

Mandes confronted the driver at his van shortly after, displaying what appeared to be a handgun. According to a police report, Mandes then pulled a "small black handgun" from his waistband and pointed it at the driver before returning to his apartment.

A SWAT team responded and surrounded the complex as negotiators worked to de-escalate the situation. Mandes eventually granted officers permission to search his residence, where a firearm was recovered. He was subsequently arrested.

Mandes was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and improper exhibition of a firearm or dangerous weapon. He was released from Broward County jail Friday after posting bail. He told reporters the incident was a "total misunderstanding."

An Amazon spokesperson confirmed the delivery error and stated the company is cooperating with the investigation, adding that safety is their top priority.
