Florida Man, 81, Arrested for Allegedly Shooting Boss After Being Scolded

An 81-year-old man in Florida has been arrested on second-degree murder charges after allegedly shooting his boss. The incident occurred last Wednesday at Metro Express Inc., an engineering and general contracting company in Medley.

Police stated that Jose Antonio Lopez was sleeping at the machinery shop when his employer, Delio Trasobares, arrived and instructed him to leave. According to an arrest report, Trasobares had previously prohibited Lopez from sleeping on the premises.

Without argument, Lopez allegedly retrieved a .40 caliber firearm from a nearby shelf and fired it at Trasobares, striking him in the chest. Police reported that Lopez shouted expletives at his boss during the shooting.

The victim attempted to flee but collapsed at the shop's entrance. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported Trasobares to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

While another individual inside the shop contacted police, Lopez reportedly went outside, smoked a cigarette, and rode a tricycle in circles in the parking lot until law enforcement arrived. Upon their arrival, Lopez stated, "I Did it."

Deputies found Trasobares on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest. Lopez informed police that he shot the victim because he was "fed up" and had "had enough" of Trasobares insulting and complaining about him.

Lopez was taken to the hospital for chest pains and, after his discharge, confessed to the shooting. On Friday, Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer denied bond for Lopez.
