Florida Father Kills Twins, Then Himself in Apparent Murder-Suicide
Authorities discovered the grim scene Wednesday after a neighbor reported a wellness check.
A Florida father fatally stabbed his 17-year-old twins before taking his own life in a double murder-suicide, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.
Ivan Montiel Roa, 63, is believed to have killed his children, Carlo and Melanie Montiel Infantino, inside their Orlando apartment. Deputies discovered the scene on Wednesday after a neighbor requested a wellness check, having not seen the family for about a week.
Deputies found the twins with multiple stab wounds in the living room and Montiel Roa in the master bedroom. "At this time, detectives believe Ivan murdered Carlo and Melanie and then committed suicide," authorities stated.
Police have not released details on when the killings occurred or the method Montiel Roa used to kill himself.
According to public records, Montiel Roa’s wife and the twins' mother died in June. The family was originally from Venezuela. Montiel Roa was a realtor and had previously operated a construction business that dissolved in late September.
His social media presence included reposting conspiracy theories and sentiments about a "new world order." In December 2025, he posted, "Introduce a little anarchy, alter the established order and everything turns into chaos. I am an agent of chaos."
Florida Rep. Rita Harris, who lives near the apartment complex, expressed her condolences. "There are no words that can make sense of a loss like this," she said. "I am also thinking of the first responders and law enforcement officers who carry the weight of what they encounter in service to our community."
