Sean Greer, 32, has been sentenced to 73 years in prison for striking six children on a Florida sidewalk in December 2021, an incident that resulted in the deaths of three young girls. Greer, who was driving with a suspended license, swerved his vehicle onto the sidewalk to avoid a merging bus, subsequently hitting the children who were on their way to a family member's house.

Paris Jones, 5, and Andrea Fleming, 6, were killed instantly. Laziyah "Minnie" Stukes, 9, died from her injuries nearly seven months later in July 2022. Greer fled the scene of the crash without calling authorities or rendering aid. Three other children, Audre Fleming, Draya Fleming, and Johnathan Carter, survived the collision with injuries.

In February, Greer pleaded no contest to 15 felony charges, including vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash involving death or serious bodily injury. He had initially faced 26 charges, some related to his suspended license, which had been suspended since 2016.

During his sentencing hearing, Greer, now 32, apologized to the victims' families, stating he was on his way home from Walmart with groceries and did not intend to harm anyone. "I’m so sorry. What I need you to understand it was just an accident," Greer said, adding he was also on probation for a burglary charge. He expressed a desire for the families to find peace.

Greer's sister, Jessica Greer, testified to their difficult upbringing, including time spent in the foster care system due to their mother's incarceration and absent father. She suggested Greer may have been suicidal that day.

However, the families of the victims rejected sympathy, emphasizing the irreversible loss of their children. Devera Stukes, mother of Laziyah Stukes, stated, "Our children were not on Powerline Road but on the sidewalk." Gregory Holcomb, grandfather of Andrea Fleming, expressed his inability to forgive Greer for taking his granddaughter's life. Tyricka Williams, Andrea Fleming's mother, directly addressed Greer, saying, "You killed those kids, my baby, and you left them in the street."

Among Greer's victims was nine-year-old Laziyah 'Minnie' Stukes. She died from her injuries almost seven months after the crash

Prosecutors sought a sentence of at least 48 years, while Greer's defense requested 35 years. Judge Andrew Siegel ultimately sentenced Greer to concurrent 48-year terms for vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident charges. He added a consecutive 25-year term for another leaving the scene charge, resulting in the total of 73 years.

Greer also received a 35-year sentence for violating probation on a previous burglary charge, which will run concurrently with his other sentences. The judge acknowledged Greer's apology as potentially genuine but deemed it insufficient for a reduced sentence.

Six-year-old Andrea Flemming was one of the other victims. She died immediately after being struck by Greer's 2009 Honda Accord in December 2021

Five-year-old Paris Jones was Greer's third victim. She also died immediately after being struck by the vehicle. The children were all on a sidewalk
