Florida Coach's Humorous Reaction to Being Favored Against Ole Miss
Jon Sumrall questioned oddsmakers' confidence, joking about available substances.
Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall offered a lighthearted response when informed that his team was favored to win against the No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels.
During his Monday press conference, Sumrall was asked about the betting line for the upcoming SEC matchup. His initial reaction was one of surprise, looking to his right before asking, "Who has us favored against these guys?"
When a reporter clarified that it was Las Vegas setting the odds, Sumrall responded with a quip, "There are a lot of good drugs out there."
The Gators (3-0) are coming off a 44-39 road victory against Auburn and have recently entered the AP Top 25 poll at No. 21. The game against Ole Miss marks Florida's first primetime home game of the season.
Sportsbooks appear to view the contest as a potential "trap game" for Ole Miss, which is coming off an emotionally charged home victory against LSU. The Rebels' resume includes a season-opening win over Louisville and their victory against LSU. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has been a standout for Ole Miss, with the offense performing at a high level.
Florida's offense has also shown considerable strength this season, scoring 66 points against FAU, 52 against Campbell, and 44 against Auburn. Running back Jadan Baugh is also noted as a potential Heisman Trophy candidate.
Despite the betting lines, Sumrall indicated that neither he nor his players would be looking past Ole Miss, acknowledging the Rebels' strong performance against LSU.
