Emily Morrison, a biologist from Venice, Florida, has achieved a Guinness World Record for the most shark tattoos on a woman’s body, adorning herself with 106 tattoos that depict 71 distinct shark species, fossilized teeth, and even a fresh shark tooth. Her body now serves as a canvas for her lifelong fascination with these marine creatures.

Morrison's interest in sharks began at age 8 after watching the movie “Jaws,” which initially instilled a fear of the ocean’s predators. However, her father encouraged her to learn more, leading her to the library to research sharks. This research transformed her fear into a profound fascination with their adaptations and evolutionary history.

"I have always had a fascination with them — and the lack of information out there," Morrison told Guinness World Records. "I am obsessed with the adaptations and the evolutionary path that sharks and cartilaginous fish have endured throughout the 450 million years of existence."

This fascination evolved into a career. Morrison now works as a biologist and a dive-tour operator, leading fossil shark-tooth dives off the Florida Gulf Coast and participating in dives with sharks. Her first tattoo, a great white shark on her lower back, was a tribute to the film that ignited her passion.

Morrison has had numerous encounters with sharks, including feeding tiger sharks and great hammerheads in the Bahamas, cage-diving with great whites in Australia, and swimming with whale sharks off the coast of Mexico. Despite these experiences, she has never had a dangerous encounter.

She plans to continue expanding her collection, aiming to tattoo all 58 shark families on her body, with seven families remaining to be inked. Morrison is also set to appear on the Discovery Channel's "My Strange Shark Addiction" during Shark Week, which begins July 26.
