Florence Pugh Addresses "Difficulties" on Set of "Don't Worry Darling"

Florence Pugh has addressed claims of on-set tensions with director Olivia Wilde during the filming of their 2022 film "Don't Worry Darling." Reports of a rift between the two stars emerged during the film's press tour and release, with speculation suggesting the issues stemmed from Wilde's relationship with actor Harry Styles.

Pugh, 30, recently spoke about the "difficulties" in an interview with Vanity Fair. While she did not directly elaborate on the nature of these challenges, she indicated a preference for professional environments. "I don't like messy sets," Pugh stated. "I want people to come to work and work, and enjoy that it's a luxury to do this. When moods change on set, it's because someone is preventing that from happening, and that's what makes people feel like they haven't been cared for."

Wilde, 42, has previously denied accusations that she and Pugh engaged in a "screaming match" on set. In a prior interview, Wilde stated, "I have never had a screaming match on my set. I was never not available on set. I wanted to be like, 'None of this is true.'"

Rumors surrounding a feud between Pugh and Wilde reportedly began due to Wilde's relationship with Styles, whom Pugh was allegedly upset about as he was involved with Styles while Wilde was still engaged to Jason Sudeikis. The speculation intensified when a leaked video showed Wilde addressing Shia LaBeouf, referring to Pugh as "Miss Flo" and suggesting she needed a "wake-up call."

Sources cited in earlier reports claimed that Pugh and Wilde had a "screaming match" on set, with one insider alleging that Pugh took issue with Wilde's "frequent, unexplained absences" with Styles. However, a joint statement released by 40 individuals who worked on the film, including producer Miri Yoon, refuted these claims. The statement described the allegations as "absurd" and "completely false," asserting that Wilde was a "class and respect" leader on set and that there was never a "screaming match between our director and anyone."

Pugh did not attend the Venice Film Festival press conference for "Don't Worry Darling" due to prior filming obligations for "Dune." At the time, Wilde praised Pugh's performance and dismissed the ongoing speculation as "internet feed."

Wilde and Styles, whose relationship lasted nearly two years, have since separated. Their breakup was attributed to the pressures of Styles's global touring schedule and Wilde's focus on her children.
