Residents of Gwaelod-y-Garth, a village on the outskirts of Cardiff, were evacuated Thursday afternoon following a flood that submerged roads and entered homes.
The Breedon Group confirmed an "incident in its quarry" occurred, leading to the flooding. Emergency services are on the scene, and the public has been advised to avoid the affected area.
Reports indicate that water levels reached approximately 5 feet (1.5 meters) deep in some residences. Roads within the village have been closed due to the significant inundation.
Breedon Group stated that its teams are collaborating with authorities and engaging with the local community in response to the situation.
