Flight Attendant Accused of Using Travel Benefits to Scam Elderly Woman
Authorities allege Destiny Blake defrauded a Florida senior out of $25,000, using her American Airlines perks to travel to the victim's home.
A 24-year-old American Airlines flight attendant has been arrested for allegedly scamming an elderly Florida woman out of approximately $25,000. Destiny Blake, of Brooklyn, was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at Miami International Airport on a warrant from Flagler County, Florida, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO).
Investigators claim Blake employed an elaborate sweepstakes scam over the past year. In November 2025, she allegedly contacted the elderly victim, posing as a representative from Publishers Clearing House. Blake told the woman she had won a contest and needed to mail a $500 gift card to Blake's New York address to begin the prize process.
During this period, the victim reportedly lost access to her email account, with the password being changed and a look-alike account created without her knowledge. Between November 15 and November 19, 2025, the victim withdrew $14,000 from her bank accounts, funds that investigators say Blake received.
FCSO stated that Blake used her flight benefits to travel from New York to Daytona Beach, Florida, on November 18, 2025. An Uber then transported her to the victim's residence in Palm Coast. According to police, Blake left the victim's home approximately fifteen minutes later with access to the victim's credit card. During her trip back, Blake allegedly made purchases using the victim's card at airports in Daytona Beach and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Detectives discovered that Blake had listed herself as an authorized user on the victim's credit card and had created a separate Apple Card. A note found in the victim's home allegedly instructed her to tell the card company that Blake was her granddaughter with permission to use the card.
Between November 16 and December 11, 2025, Blake is accused of making 88 charges totaling $10,590.30 on the victim's credit card. Purchases included Apple products, an eBay order, T-Mobile services, Ugg footwear, a hair salon visit, and numerous Uber Eats orders. One transaction was reportedly made in Jamaican dollars in Kingston, Jamaica, shortly after Blake flew to the country for work.
"Most flight attendants use their benefits to see the world - Blake used her’s to further a scam against a senior resident, live a lavish lifestyle using stolen bank cards and thinking she could get away with it," Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement. "Her wings were clipped by our detectives and with the help of CPB she was arrested. Her next trip? Flagler County to be held accountable for her crimes."
