Fleetwood Town has secured another home tie against a Premier League opponent in the Carabao Cup quarter-final. The League Two club will host either Everton or Newcastle United at Highbury Stadium.
This fixture follows Fleetwood's historic upset of Arsenal, the reigning Premier League champions, who were eliminated from the competition on Tuesday night. Fleetwood won 5-3 on penalties after the match ended in a draw. Despite dominating possession, Arsenal was unable to convert their chances, a fact that ultimately proved costly against the lower-league side.
Everton and Newcastle will play each other on Thursday night to determine which team will face Fleetwood in the quarter-final.
Elsewhere in the draw, defending champions Manchester City were handed a home fixture against League One side Bradford City. Manchester City advanced to the quarter-finals by defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 4-3 on penalties after their match concluded 2-2.
Liverpool, who also progressed via a penalty shootout against Chelsea, will host Bournemouth. The Cherries reached the quarter-finals for the first time in eight seasons by defeating Aston Villa 3-0. Goals from Amine Adli, Lewis Cook, and Alvaro Rodriguez secured Bournemouth's victory.
Crystal Palace, having eased pressure on manager Pierre Sage with a win over Fulham, is set to play Sunderland.
The quarter-final matches are scheduled to take place during the week commencing December 14.
