A five-year-old girl, identified as Letti Cole, has died after being found unresponsive in a body of water in Badsey, Worcestershire. Letti was reported missing last Wednesday evening. Responders, including an air ambulance, paramedics, and police officers, attended the scene where she was pronounced deceased.
West Mercia Police stated that no third party was involved in the incident and asked the public to refrain from online speculation, emphasizing the distress it causes to the family.
A police spokesperson confirmed on Thursday that the child was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead. A report is being prepared for the coroner. The police also appealed for privacy for the family during this difficult time.
Letti's aunt, Hayley Cole, has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help the family establish a memorial for her. In a statement shared on the fundraising page, she described Letti as a 'precious angel' and expressed the family's heartbreak and shock.
"Our family is completely heartbroken, devastated, and still in shock. No family should ever have to go through such an unimaginable loss," Hayley Cole wrote. She also expressed gratitude for the support from the Badsey community.
She added, "The kindness, compassion, and support shown by the people of Badsey has restored my faith in humanity. I want to thank every single person who gave up their time and made every effort to help look for our beautiful Letti. Your love and support will never be forgotten."
The GoFundMe has so far garnered over £7,000, with a significant donation of £1,000 from a local business, Badsey Butchers. Ms. Cole stated that donations are not obligatory, and the family deeply appreciates prayers and support.
"Please don't feel under any obligation to donate. Your love, prayers, and support have already meant the world to our family. However, if you would like to contribute, any donation, no matter how small, would be deeply appreciated and will help us create a special place to remember our precious girl."
