A five-year-old boy has been recognized for his courage after calling emergency services when his mother fell and lost consciousness.

Jaxon was at home in Dudley with his three-year-old brother when his mother, Stacey, fell down the stairs. She experienced vomiting and slurred speech before losing consciousness. Jaxon was able to provide his address to the 999 operator. Officers were the first on the scene, entering the property over the back gate to administer first aid until paramedics arrived.

For his actions, Jaxon was presented with a chief constable's young person's award by Chief Constable Jen Mattinson at West Midlands Police's awards evening. He also received a surprise visit from the Stourbridge Neighbourhood Team, who presented him with a bicycle purchased by his parents as a reward for securing medical assistance for his mother.
