Five victims injured in a shooting near Florida A&M University (FAMU) have been released from the hospital, while six others remain hospitalized, including one in critical condition, Tallahassee police announced Sunday.

The incident occurred Saturday night near Bragg Memorial Stadium, leaving a total of 12 people injured. Of those injured, 11 sustained gunshot wounds. The victims included six adults and six juveniles, with the youngest being 11 years old.

Authorities stated that preliminary information suggests a physical altercation involving two to three individuals preceded the gunfire. The shooting took place around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Perry and Manatee streets.

The shooting happened during FAMU's homecoming weekend, a time when students and alumni typically gather in Tallahassee.

Lt. Gov. Jay Collins expressed his condolences on social media, stating, "My heart goes out to the victims and families impacted by the shooting near FAMU. Knowing children were among those injured makes this even more heartbreaking."
