Authorities are investigating the deaths of five people discovered on a rural property in Forest Grove, Oregon, as a quintuple homicide. The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded early Saturday to reports of a vehicle fire on the property, located about 30 miles west of Portland. Upon arrival, responders found the remains of five individuals along with several domestic animals.
Detectives are not treating the incident as a random act of violence, though details remain scarce. No arrests have been made, and no suspects are in custody. The sheriff's office has not disclosed the ages or genders of the deceased, the cause of death, or any potential connections between the victims. The types of animals found dead also have not been specified.
At a news conference Sunday afternoon, Detective Shannon Wilde stated that investigators are working to identify the victims and notify their next of kin. She described the scene as complex, noting that the investigation involves a large crime scene and multiple moving parts. Wilde explained the delay in releasing information was to ensure accuracy and to properly identify the victims before making a public announcement.
Sheriff Caprice Massey urged anyone with knowledge of the property or its inhabitants to come forward with information. "I will say that in my 22 years here, I have not been a part of or witnessed a scene quite this complex involving this type of an investigation," Massey said.
