A viral workout video featuring fitness trainer Nunzi, renowned for his sculpted physique, has captured widespread attention on social media, accumulating over 51 million views. The routine, shared by Nunzi, a certified ISSA master trainer, nutritionist, and bodybuilding competitor, focuses on a home-friendly lower-body burn. It includes 50 wide sumo squats, 40 ballerina-stance squats, 30 lunges per leg, 20 single-leg Romanian deadlifts (RDLs), and 10 explosive glute clenches.

The internet's reaction has largely centered on Nunzi's notably developed glutes, sparking a range of comments from amusement and envy to expressions of discomfort and surprise. Many users, however, have expressed a desire to emulate his training, citing the visible results as proof of efficacy.

Despite the social media buzz, fitness experts caution against expecting significant muscle transformation solely from bodyweight exercises. Dani Carr, a multi-site franchisee and personal trainer for Anytime Fitness, commented that while Nunzi's exercises are beneficial for glute activation and strengthening, his advanced physique is likely a result of more rigorous training. "If you look at his other content, he also trains with heavy cables and weights, which is far more likely to have contributed to the results we’re seeing," Carr stated.

Carr emphasized the principle of progressive overload, which involves gradually increasing the demands placed on muscles, typically through heavier weights or greater resistance. He noted that the body adapts to consistent stimuli, meaning that repeating the same bodyweight exercises without increasing difficulty will become less effective over time.

Carr suggested that the video's viral appeal stems partly from its novelty, as glute workouts have historically been marketed predominantly to women. "For years, glute workouts were marketed almost entirely to women, so seeing a guy focus on lower-body training is an instant scroll-stopper," Carr explained. He added that the video's widespread popularity may be driven more by this novelty factor than by its educational content. The trend of men focusing on glute training is becoming more common, as strong glutes are essential for power, performance, and preventing back pain. Nunzi's routine, by appearing simple and accessible, appeals to both women seeking new exercises and men looking for validation to train their lower bodies effectively.

While experts recommend trying the exercises Nunzi demonstrates, they advise against expecting dramatic results from a single viral routine. News.com.au has reached out to Nunzi for comment.
