Fitness Coach Doubts Sam Wood's Career Recovery Amid DV Charges

Leading fitness coach Danni Duncan believes Sam Wood's career in the fitness industry is likely over following his arrest and charges related to domestic violence. Wood, 46, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm in a domestic violence context and strangulation in a domestic setting after Queensland Police responded to reports at a Hastings Street property in Noosa on Saturday night.

The charges have already impacted his professional life, with Wood being dropped from '28 by Sam Wood,' the fitness company he founded and sold in 2022 for approximately $71 million. Several trainers, celebrities, and companies associated with Wood's business have also distanced themselves from him.

Duncan, a nutrition coach and mother-of-four, told the Daily Mail that women already face challenges feeling safe in the fitness industry, and Wood's arrest is likely to exacerbate existing distrust. "Unless the story comes out that it was self-defence, I can't see him coming back from this," Duncan stated, expressing doubt about his ability to recover his reputation. "I can't see (a future) for him (in the fitness industry). The trust is now gone and you're not going to get that trust back any time soon, from my perspective."

She further explained that women are increasingly frustrated by what she described as a male-centered climate in the fitness industry. "To see someone in that space with such a high profile, with daughters, as a father figure in the current landscape... I think women are just a bit over it and angry, so when something like this comes out, it just makes us upset and frustrated," Duncan said.

In contrast, celebrity agent Max Markson offered a more optimistic outlook regarding Wood's financial future. Markson, who runs Markson Sparks, suggested that while securing future brand deals might be difficult, Wood's substantial wealth would likely shield him from financial repercussions. "It won't affect him financially. Nothing," Markson said when asked about potential financial losses, citing Wood's previous sale of his business for over $71 million. Wood reportedly retained a five percent stake in the company.

However, Markson acknowledged that Wood's ability to work with major brands could be challenging. "It'll be hard," he admitted, adding that Wood might need to pursue other ventures. He also suggested that the controversy could impact Wood's public profile, even if he is found not guilty.

Regarding Wood's wife, Snezana Wood, and her daughter Eve, Markson does not anticipate their influencer careers being affected. "I don't believe so. I think they'll just trust him and move forward," he said.

Snezana Wood, who met her husband when she participated in The Bachelor in 2015, released a joint statement with Sam: "This is a difficult time for all of us, we are working through this as a family and are thoroughly co-operating with authorities."

Markson advised that Snezana Wood might choose to remain largely silent on the matter publicly. "I think she'll just keep quiet. I don't think she'll want to get involved," he suggested.

Wood remains in custody, with his bail application expected to be heard in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday. The Daily Mail does not suggest Wood is guilty of the offenses with which he has been charged. Resources for those affected by domestic violence are available through 1800RESPECT and White Ribbon Australia.
