Brittany Begley, a meteorologist formerly employed by Houston television station KPRC 2, has publicly accused her former employers of creating a toxic workplace culture. Begley, who announced her departure on June 24, released a series of screenshots of emails and internal chats on social media, alleging unfair treatment and disparate work expectations.

In an Instagram post on July 2, Begley stated, "Destroyed for telling the truth... and now I’ve had enough of the TV industry." She claims that her termination was decided before she met with human resources, asserting, "I was found guilty before I even walked into HR." Begley also posted a photo of an empty cardboard box, which she said was at her desk before her HR meeting.

Begley further alleged that the station expected meteorologists to alter their schedules for major weather events, including working early, staying late, and working weekends or scheduled days off. She contrasted this with higher-paid meteorologists who she claims were less willing to pick up shifts or standby duties while receiving significantly more compensation.

"Having your cake and eating it too—that’s the industry," Begley wrote, adding that another employee who attempted to advocate for changes on the weather team was also fired. She criticized management's response to workplace issues, stating, "'Management says they ‘take all issues seriously.’ If they did, they would’ve fixed the chronic behavior that made two producers quit and left the rest working 6-day weeks.'"

Begley, 44, expressed that she had not received deserved recognition, including an Emmy. She stated her intention to advocate for others who, like her, started their careers from the ground up, hoping for a larger role in television where she can champion their causes. She maintained that she does not regret speaking her mind, especially for those living paycheck to paycheck.
