Fern Britton, the former presenter of "This Morning," has shared that her four children have deliberately avoided following her into the entertainment industry, opting instead for careers considered more conventional. Britton, 69, stated that despite her connections in show business, none of her children expressed interest in pursuing fame.
Her offspring have embarked on careers as a builder, a teacher, a trainee nurse, and one son works in psychology. One of Britton's daughters, when younger, reportedly told her mother that her television career was "really boring," indicating a lack of interest in the industry.
Britton is mother to twin sons Jack and Harry, 32, and daughter Grace, 28, from her first marriage to Clive Jones. She also has a daughter, Winnie, 24, with ex-husband Phil Vickery. Grace is currently working in an emergency nursing unit, a profession Britton expressed immense pride in. Winnie, the youngest, works as a laborer on a building site.
In contrast to Britton's children, Phillip Schofield's daughter, Molly, 33, has worked in the talent agency YMU, which represents numerous high-profile entertainment figures. Molly previously worked at YMU for at least six years and, in 2024, transitioned to acting as her father's publicist following his admission of an affair with a younger colleague.
Britton's departure from "This Morning" in 2009, after seven years co-hosting with Schofield, was reportedly due to dissatisfaction with her role and salary, which was said to be a third of Schofield's. In a 2013 interview, Britton confirmed they were no longer in touch.
Britton's children are not the only offspring of celebrities to opt for less public-facing careers. Harry Hill's three daughters—Kitty, 28, Winifred, 27, and Frederica, 21—have pursued careers in the arts, with Kitty working as a ceramicist, Winifred as a painter, and Frederica in the textile industry.
Other celebrity children who have taken different paths include Gary Barlow's son Daniel, who studied medicine, and his daughter Emily, who is studying physiology. Jamie Oliver's daughter, Daisy, 23, is training to be a nurse, and Gordon Ramsay's daughter Megan, 28, is a police officer with a psychology degree.
