Federal agents discovered a significant quantity of narcotics, a valuable firearm, and an exotic animal during a raid on a luxury apartment in downtown Los Angeles. The apartment, located on the 45th floor of the Olympic + Hill building at 230 W. Olympic Blvd., was allegedly operating as a fentanyl "stash house."
Marvin Angelito, 27, and Susan Gonzalez, 26, were arrested in connection with the bust. They are each charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. During the raid, authorities seized approximately 94 pounds of fentanyl in both pill and powder form, nearly 16 pounds of cocaine, and over two pounds of heroin.
In addition to the drugs, agents found an assortment of drug-making tools, including beakers, mixers, stirrers, torches, and a hydraulic press. The search also uncovered an AR-15 rifle with ammunition, a gold-plated Desert Eagle .50-caliber pistol on the kitchen counter, and a police radio. A small alligator, found in a glass tank, was also confiscated by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agents.
The FBI's investigation into Angelito and Gonzalez began over the summer when a criminal informant, who was facing federal drug charges, provided information against the couple. The informant reportedly arranged to purchase 500,000 fentanyl pills for $125,000 from Angelito and Gonzalez, with the transaction planned for August 21 at their apartment.
