A minor traffic accident and the alleged theft of food from a Buffalo Wild Wings led to the arrest of two individuals and the discovery of an alleged plot to murder the parents of one of the suspects, according to officials.

The incident began on June 16 when authorities responded to a reckless driving complaint in Stafford, Virginia. A vehicle had veered off the road and struck a street sign.

Deputies located the vehicle at a Wawa convenience store, where they detained two occupants: 19-year-old Louis Conely and a 17-year-old, whose identity has not been released. Both were found with unopened alcoholic beverages and a tray of food believed to have been stolen from a Buffalo Wild Wings. The pair reportedly admitted to stealing the food.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered opened alcoholic beverages, multiple knives, medical supplies, and a notebook. Authorities stated that Conely owned the notebook, which contained details of two alleged murder plots against the 17-year-old's parents.

According to charging documents, text messages from April indicated the pair discussed planning the parents' murders inside their home. The messages reportedly included discussions about avoiding security cameras and methods of killing, such as shooting or slitting throats.

A subsequent search of the underage suspect's bedroom reportedly uncovered BB guns, edged weapons, and archery equipment.

Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the alleged plot.

Conely faces charges including two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of felony written threats, petit larceny, unlawful purchase of an alcoholic beverage, drinking while operating a motor vehicle, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, hit-and-run, and reckless driving. He is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

The 17-year-old is charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of felony written threats. The juvenile is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

It remains unclear how Conely and the juvenile know each other.
