Federal agents have arrested an individual in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on charges related to alleged voter fraud, including illegally voting and falsifying citizenship status. The arrest is one of several charges filed as part of a multi-state Department of Justice investigation into election fraud in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Wisconsin.
Footage obtained by Fox News Digital shows Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents arresting Katya Rodriguez, 30, who is identified as an illegal immigrant from Mexico residing in Harrisburg. Rodriguez faces federal grand jury indictments for illegally voting in the 2024 election, providing a false statement of citizenship to vote, and fraudulent registration. According to a DOJ press release, she could face up to 11 years in prison if convicted.
The Justice Department announced Friday that five individuals, including two non-citizens with legal status and two illegal immigrants, have been federally charged in connection with unlawfully casting ballots, falsifying citizenship, and fraudulent voter registration during the 2022 and 2024 elections.
This enforcement action comes amid a broader effort by the Trump administration to investigate election-related crimes. The Justice Department has reportedly pursued legal action against states for voter roll data and has tasked HSI with identifying non-citizens unlawfully registered to vote.
"Despite the media and Democrats claiming it never happens, the evidence of non-citizens registering to vote in our elections continues to pile up," White House spokesperson Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital. "Any non-citizens found registering to vote and voting in our elections will be held accountable. Only Americans should be electing American leaders."
HSI Acting Executive Associate Director John A. Condon stated, "The American people deserve confidence that our elections are protected from fraud and criminal exploitation, and that those who seek to undermine the law are held accountable." He added that HSI agents work with federal partners to investigate alleged criminal conduct and support prosecutions to uphold the rule of law.
Recent weeks have also seen disclosures of a software error in New Jersey that mistakenly registered nearly 6,600 non-citizens, with approximately 400 casting ballots. An audit by Homeland Security earlier this summer identified over 250,000 registered non-citizens across California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada.
CNN previously reported that HSI launched a "voter fraud surge" initiative into nine key states, including Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, to investigate non-citizens suspected of election interference. The arrests announced Friday are among the initial enforcement actions from this initiative.
