FDA Identifies Potential Source of Cyclosporiasis Outbreak Linked to Lettuce

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Friday that it has identified a potential source of the cyclosporiasis outbreak that was tied to lettuce during the summer months. The agency collected samples during on-site inspections at Taylor Farms de Mexico facilities.

According to the FDA, two samples tested positive for the parasite cyclospora. One positive sample was collected from a tank containing outgoing wastewater from a processing facility. The second positive sample was found in a drainage ditch belonging to an iceberg lettuce grower.
