Newly declassified documents show that the FBI, during the Biden administration, tracked the travel of former First Lady Melania Trump and her son Barron as part of the classified documents investigation. The probe, later led by special counsel Jack Smith and codenamed "Plasmic Echo," also involved monitoring phone contacts of Trump allies, including Susie Wiles, a campaign adviser.
The surveillance collected call details but not the content of conversations, according to the released records. The documents indicate that agents were tracking travel plans while the Mar-a-Lago search was being planned. The monitoring extended to Wiles' calls with defense lawyers, campaign advisers, and journalists.
