The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating a potential cyber breach of its primary job application website, FBIjobs.gov, according to sources familiar with the matter. The site has been the central platform for job seekers applying for employment at the FBI, including agent and support positions, since 2017.

The FBI is currently assessing the scope of the breach and determining what information may have been compromised. It remains unclear how many individuals might be affected by the incident.

Earlier on Tuesday, the FBI released a brief statement acknowledging awareness of claims regarding unauthorized activity on the site. "The FBI is aware of claims regarding unauthorized activity affecting FBIjobs.gov and is currently investigating," the statement said.

Reports from 404 Media indicated that a hacking group has claimed responsibility for accessing employee data. ABC News has not independently verified these claims.
