FBI Identifies North Korea as Perpetrator of 'Biggest Hack in History,' Targeting Binance

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has accused North Korea of orchestrating what it terms the 'biggest hack in history,' a scheme that resulted in the theft of $6.3 billion from the cryptocurrency giant Binance. The accusation stems from a comprehensive investigation involving the FBI, the U.S. Secret Service, and the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation.

This investigation uncovered malicious cyber activity attributed to North Korea, operating under the designation 'TraderTraitor.' According to the FBI, actors associated with TraderTraitor stole assets and engaged in attempts to launder the funds on or around October 29.

The company confirmed late Thursday that the estimated total impact of the cyber incident exceeded $6 billion.
