FBI Expected to Investigate Meghan Markle's Father Over Child Porn Allegations
Report indicates federal probe will be launched following discovery of alleged child pornography at Thomas Markle Sr.'s home.
The FBI is reportedly poised to launch its own investigation into Thomas Markle Sr., the estranged father of Meghan Markle, after allegations of a discovered stash of child pornography at his residence. The investigation is expected to proceed after Markle Sr.'s son, Thomas Markle Jr., reported the alleged find to local authorities and the FBI.
Thomas Markle Sr., 82, is accused of possessing "hundreds, if not thousands," of child sex abuse images, which his son reportedly discovered in storage boxes at his home in Cebu, Philippines. The Sun newspaper first reported the allegations.
Following the discovery in July, Thomas Markle Jr., 60, contacted the FBI hotline, the U.S. National Center for Exploited and Missing Children, and Pennsylvania state police, where his father is said to reside. According to a source close to the case in Cebu, an FBI agent has requested contact information for the investigators handling the case in the Philippines.
"There is a strong precedent for cases in circumstances like this to be investigated by the FBI," the source told The Sun. The FBI has not yet publicly commented on the potential investigation.
