Dr. Anthony Fauci was seen collecting a bouquet of yellow flowers left by an admirer on the front steps of his Washington, D.C. home on Thursday. The gesture came less than a day after the former chief medical advisor invoked his Fifth Amendment rights more than 100 times during a hearing with Senate Republicans.
The flowers were accompanied by a handwritten note that read, "we [heart] you Dr. Fauci!" Fauci, 85, appeared to be smiling as he clutched the bouquet, dressed in casual attire.
On Wednesday, during a hearing before the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Republican senators questioned Fauci extensively about his role and decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic. He repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in response to their questions. Following the hearing, Fauci was observed taking a walk with his wife, Christine Grady, in their neighborhood. He was overheard expressing frustration about being "shouted at."
