Christopher Rice, 35, will stand trial accused of murdering his nine-year-old daughter, Minnie Merriman. Minnie died on August 3 at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after being found seriously injured at the Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath.

Rice, who was remanded in custody, appeared via videolink at Forfar Sheriff Court and made no plea. He was committed for trial.

Emergency services were called to the industrial estate shortly after midnight on August 3. Minnie was transported to Ninewells Hospital along with four other individuals but later succumbed to her injuries. Police Scotland stated they are not seeking anyone else in connection with her death. The other family members, who were camping in the area, are receiving support from specialist officers.

Minnie's family had previously described her as their "beloved, absolutely incredible, beautiful and brave Minnie Moo."
