A father in Grove City, Ohio, is accused of shooting a man who allegedly raped his 11-year-old daughter, after luring the suspect back to their home by posing as the child on TikTok. The incident occurred in July, according to prosecutors.
The girl's mother discovered a video on her daughter's phone depicting the alleged sexual assault, prompting the father, Malik Chandler, 31, to devise a plan to confront Diego Montoya Gonzalez. The following day, Chandler allegedly created a TikTok profile impersonating his daughter to entice Montoya Gonzalez to return to their residence.
Chandler told investigators that his initial intention was to assault Montoya Gonzalez and detain him until police arrived. However, he stated that he believed Montoya Gonzalez reached for a weapon in his pocket, leading Chandler to retrieve his own firearm from the counter and open fire.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found Montoya Gonzalez seated with two gunshot wounds. He was transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment. Chandler was subsequently charged with felony assault and held on $100,000 bond.
Montoya Gonzalez has since been indicted by a grand jury on multiple charges, including five counts of pandering sexually oriented material, two counts of rape, and one count of obstruction of official business. Prosecutors allege that several videos depicting child sexual abuse, including one involving an infant or toddler, were found on his phone.
During a court appearance, a judge set Montoya Gonzalez's bond at $20,000 recognizance and $50,000 cash. He has been ordered to have no contact with the victim or her family if released and is prohibited from using the internet for non-work-related purposes.
