Father Recounts Agonizing Final Days With Infant Son After Ex-Wife's Attack

Patrick Clancy has shared the harrowing details of the final days he spent with his infant son, Callan, after his ex-wife attacked their three children in January 2023. In his first public account since the tragedy, Clancy spoke on CBS's 60 Minutes, weeks after his ex-wife Lindsay Clancy's murder trial resulted in a mistrial.

Clancy described finding his children in the basement of their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home. While his two older children, Cora, five, and Dawson, three, had already died from strangulation, his eight-month-old son, Callan, was still alive. He rushed Callan to the hospital, where the infant clung to life for four days.

"I really thought there was a chance that Callan would live," Clancy recounted, adding that he held onto hope for his youngest child. "Just gimme one. Just gimme one kid... and I would give him the best life I possibly could."

However, upon seeing the doctor's expression at the hospital, Clancy understood that the prognosis was grim. His baby boy died in his arms. "I'm so grateful for those four days that I had with him. And I'm so grateful he hung on," he said.

The grieving father described the immense void left by the deaths of his children, stating, "There was no family routine, no bedtime stories, no purpose. Everything just came to a screeching halt."

He also revealed experiencing suicidal thoughts in the aftermath, admitting he was once content with not reaching his 35th birthday.

Lindsay Clancy, a labor and delivery nurse, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder for allegedly strangling the children with exercise bands. She reportedly committed the acts after sending Patrick Clancy out to pick up medication and food. She then attempted to take her own life, sustaining injuries that left her paralyzed from the waist down.
