Father of Slain NYC Girl Seeks Funds for Funeral
Kuldeep Singh has launched a GoFundMe to cover burial costs for his 5-year-old daughter, Fabiana Cabello, who was allegedly killed by her mother.
The father of a 5-year-old Queens girl, allegedly killed by her mother, is struggling to afford his daughter's funeral and has launched an online fundraiser.
Kuldeep Singh wrote on a GoFundMe page he created that the funeral home and cemetery require a deposit he cannot pay. "I loved my daughter very much, and losing her feels like I lost my whole world," Singh wrote on the campaign site, two days after his daughter, Fabiana Cabello, was found dead in their South Richmond Hill home on Wednesday.
Singh, who works as an Uber driver, stated that balancing work with his grief has been challenging. "I am trying to keep working as an Uber driver while driving a rental car, but I am grieving and struggling to manage these costs at the same time," he wrote.
Fabiana's mother, 32-year-old Francis Cabello, was charged with murder on Thursday. According to police and sources, she confessed to a 911 operator, stating, "I killed my daughter."
Little Fabiana was discovered unresponsive with blood on her face and mouth inside the family's home on 110th Street near 95th Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday. Preliminary autopsy results indicated that the child had scrapes on her face and petechiae in her eyes, findings that can be associated with asphyxia. The official cause of death is pending further investigation.
Family members indicated that Francis Cabello had been experiencing psychological issues. Prosecutors stated at her arraignment on Friday that she may have strangled her daughter. Following the discovery of her child, Francis Cabello was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
Singh hopes to provide his daughter with a "proper funeral and cemetery service." He is appealing for donations and shares of the fundraiser to help him through this difficult time and to honor his daughter's memory.
