Richard Bennett, father of the late GRL and LMFAO singer Lauren Bennett, has publicly spoken about his daughter's final months, alleging that medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately.
Lauren Bennett, known for her feature on LMFAO's 2011 hit "Party Rock Anthem" and her time in the girl group GRL, died on May 29 in Kent, England, at the age of 36. Her death was confirmed by her former bandmates. A formal inquest into her passing is scheduled for October 30, according to coroner records.
Richard Bennett shared an emotional tribute to his daughter, describing her as a "beautiful and talented daughter, the love of my life and my pride and joy." He recalled her early passion for performing, noting she began professionally at age 12. "Her achievements in the music industry were beyond our wildest dreams and continue to make me so proud," he stated.
He detailed that in the months preceding her death, Bennett "experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication." The family "rallied around her and did everything we can to support her." However, Richard Bennett expressed deep disappointment, stating, "for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need."
He emphasized that the family holds no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death itself, but rather expresses profound disappointment in the care she received. Lauren Bennett is survived by her daughter and family.
Bennett's mentor and Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin reshared the tribute post. The death occurs 12 years after Bennett's GRL bandmate Simone Battle died by suicide at age 25.
