Father Confesses to Wife's Murder, Leaves Children Home Alone

A Bay Area father has been arrested on suspicion of murder after allegedly leaving his three young children home alone before bringing his critically injured wife to a San Jose hospital, where he confessed to her killing.

Roy Anthony Lopez, 37, arrived at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose around 9:20 a.m. Saturday. Hospital staff subsequently discovered an adult female victim inside a vehicle parked at the hospital. Paramedics attempted to provide immediate medical care, but the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Morgan Hill Police Department (MHPD).

San Jose Police Department officers took Lopez into custody without incident. MHPD officers then transported him to Morgan Hill for questioning. He was later booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on a charge of murder.

A preliminary investigation indicated the incident occurred at a residence in the 1100 block of Vintage Lane in Morgan Hill. Police officers discovered three children – aged 14, 6, and 3 – at the home. The children were taken to the Morgan Hill Police Department and subsequently released into the custody of the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services.

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information regarding this case to contact Sergeant Sean Bayard at 408-607-3032 or by email at [email protected].
