The mother of a nine-year-old girl who died on a Scottish industrial estate has shared a heartfelt tribute to her daughter, saying they will be "eternally connected." The girl's father has been charged with her murder.

Minnie Merriman, from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, was discovered with severe injuries by emergency services at the Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath early Monday morning. Paramedics transported her and three other individuals to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where Minnie later died from her injuries.

Christopher Rice, 35, appeared on petition at Forfar Sheriff Court in Angus on Wednesday. He did not enter a plea.

Since Minnie's death, floral tributes and toys have been placed at the scene. Her mother left a message that read: "To my darling Minnie Moo. Wherever you are, we're still connected eternally. I love you my girl. Mammy will carry your strength always."

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Minnie's family expressed their devastation: "We are devastated with the loss of our beloved, absolutely incredible, beautiful and brave Minnie Moo. Our family asks that our privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time."

Emergency services were called to the industrial estate in the early hours of Monday morning, where the family had reportedly been camping. Police have stated they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Mike Ness of Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team said, "Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by these events, especially Minnie's family. A police presence will remain in the area while our enquiries continue."

A cordon was established on Peasiehill Road, outside the Halliburton plant within the estate. Witnesses reported seeing the family cooking food on a portable stove earlier in the evening. A blue forensics tent was erected within the cordon and later removed on Tuesday afternoon. A blue electric Peugeot hatchback, believed to belong to the family, was also removed from the scene.

Local residents have also paid tribute to Minnie. One note read: "In the arms of the angels little one, may you rest in peace. From friends you do not know xx."

Councillor Derek Wann, deputy leader of Angus Council, expressed his deep sadness over the tragic death. He conveyed his condolences to Minnie's family and friends and acknowledged the impact on the wider community, urging respect for the family's privacy and avoidance of speculation during the ongoing investigation.

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed they dispatched four ambulance response vehicles to the scene after receiving a call at 23:53 on Sunday, August 2, transporting four patients to Ninewells Hospital.
