Brady Harmon is mourning the loss of his four young children and their mother following an alleged murder-suicide poisoning plot in Mechanicville, New York. The children’s grandmother is suspected of poisoning the four children and their mother before taking her own life, police stated.
“There is no preparation. It’s horrendous,” Harmon told Fox News Digital, describing the devastating news. Investigators recovered evidence from the apartment indicating intentional poisoning with numerous prescription and over-the-counter medications. Autopsy examinations also revealed that one of the child victims may have suffered fatal sharp force injuries.
Police were alerted to the tragedy during a welfare check at the home on Tuesday, June 23. Those found deceased were identified as Gracelynn Harmon, 10; Hudson Harmon, 11; Gavin Harmon, 10; Harper Harmon, 13; Sarah Myers, 44, the children's mother; and Amy Steadman, 64, Myers’ mother.
Mechanicville Police Chief William Rabbitt stated that investigators found a handwritten note that may link Steadman to the deaths. The exact causes of death are pending additional investigation and toxicology testing.
Harmon, who resides in Utah, had been planning to reunite with his children for the summer. He was engaged in an ongoing custody battle with the children's mother and had previously expressed concerns about his children's safety and well-being.
“The system is broken, it takes way too long to get anything done. I spent six and a half years fighting to be able to have access to my kids,” Harmon said, expressing his frustration with the legal system. He added, “My concern right now is being able to bring my kids home, and have them away from those two monsters that did this to them.”
