Father and Son Critically Injured in Home Invasion

A 15-year-old boy sustained three stab wounds and his father was also severely injured during an unprovoked home invasion that occurred early Thursday morning. Both remain in critical condition in the hospital.

The incident took place around 12:30 a.m. in Thurnby, Leicestershire, when two masked individuals entered the family's residence. The boy's mother, in her 40s, suffered minor injuries to her hand and shoulder and has since been released from the hospital. Three other children present in the home were unharmed.

According to a friend of the teenage victim, the 15-year-old was 'stabbed three times' by individuals described as 'gang members' who were reportedly robbing the home. Leicestershire Police confirmed that armed officers responded to the scene but the perpetrators had fled before their arrival.

The boy and his father – a man in his 50s – remain in hospital in a life-threatening condition following the 'completely unprovoked' attack

Detective Inspector Lorna Granville of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit characterized the assault as 'completely unprovoked' and stated that the motive is under investigation. "Our investigation to understand what happened and why – and identify those behind such a horrific criminal act – is going to continue over the weekend," Granville said.

Residents near the scene expressed fear and concern for the family, describing them as quiet and good neighbors.
