Father and Son Critically Injured in Home Invasion
Two masked individuals entered a Leicestershire home, stabbing a father and son multiple times in what police are calling an unprovoked attack.
A father and son remain in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times during an attack in their family home in Thurnby, Leicestershire. Leicestershire Police were called to the residence on Station Road shortly before 00:30 BST on Thursday.
Authorities stated that two masked individuals entered the property and attacked the man, in his 50s, and his 15-year-old son. Both victims sustained multiple stab wounds and are currently in a life-threatening condition in hospital. The wife and mother of the victims, a woman in her 40s, suffered minor injuries to her hand and shoulder during the incident. Three other children present at the address were unharmed.
Armed officers were deployed to the scene as a precautionary measure, but the perpetrators had already fled the residence by the time they arrived. The East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) has taken lead on the investigation to determine the circumstances and motive behind the violent home invasion. Police have stated that searches will continue over the weekend to gather evidence that may help identify those responsible.
Detective Inspector Lorna Granville described the incident as a "violent attack against a family in their own home which appears to have been completely unprovoked." She affirmed that the investigation into the events and the identification of the perpetrators is ongoing.
