Fatal Incident on Six Flags Roller Coaster Leads to Park Evacuation
A person died after falling from the Goliath ride at Six Flags Over Georgia, resulting in the theme park's evacuation.
A parkgoer died on Monday at Six Flags Over Georgia after falling from the Goliath rollercoaster, prompting officials to evacuate the theme park.
Witnesses told 11 Alive that the individual fell and struck the ride multiple times. A parkgoer named Cody Alcorn stated that the falling person was captured on their souvenir photo from the day.
Following the incident, riders who were on the rollercoaster were seen being evacuated four at a time. Footage shared on social media showed them being assisted onto an adjacent stairway as they had been stuck on an incline in the middle of the ride when it was shut down.
The cause of the tragedy remains unclear. The Goliath rollercoaster, manufactured by Bolliger and Mobillard, opened at the park in 2006. It is known to reach speeds of 70 mph and has an elevation of 200 feet.
