Fatal Fall on Goliath Roller Coaster Prompts Six Flags Over Georgia Evacuation

A fatal incident occurred on Monday at Six Flags Over Georgia when a parkgoer died after falling from the state's tallest roller coaster, the Goliath. The theme park subsequently evacuated the ride and its premises.

Witnesses told 11 Alive that the individual fell from the Goliath coaster, striking the ride multiple times. One witness, Cody Alcorn, recounted the event, stating that the fallen man was captured on a souvenir photo from the day. Another parkgoer, posting on Reddit, claimed to have been next in line for the ride at the time of the incident and described the experience as "very sad and surreal."

Footage shared on social media showed park staff evacuating riders from the rollercoaster, who had been stranded on an incline in the middle of the ride when it was shut down. Evacuations proceeded with riders being moved four at a time and escorted onto an adjacent stairway.

In a statement, a Six Flags spokesperson expressed deep sadness over the incident. "Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the guest's family, friends and loved ones," the spokesperson said, adding that the park is providing support to affected guests and employees. The spokesperson confirmed that the park team and local authorities responded immediately and that the park is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.

The cause of the tragedy remains unclear. The Goliath roller coaster, manufactured by Bolliger and Mobillard, opened in 2006. It is known to reach speeds of 70 mph and has a maximum elevation of 200 feet.

This is a developing story. [Additional details will be provided as they become available.]
