Police Scotland has launched an appeal for information following a fatal road traffic collision on the A8 near Edinburgh Airport on Monday. The crash resulted in what witnesses described as "mayhem" and has prompted a wide-ranging search for two women and a man.
Witness Accounts of the Incident
Tom Brumfitt, a resident near the crash site, reported hearing "loud bangs" around the time of the collision. Shortly after, he observed a man running past his window, shouting for help and his mother. "It was the worst scenario I had seen outside for a long time," Brumfitt stated, describing the scene as chaotic with a van overturned and individuals fleeing.
Christine Yule, another resident, expressed her relief after her son, who was traveling in a taxi, was found unharmed on the opposite side of the road. She noted her son was visibly upset by the incident.
Emergency Response and Investigation
The Scottish Ambulance Service deployed multiple resources, including three ambulances, two special operations response teams, a paramedic response unit, and a critical care paramedic. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service also responded to the scene. Police Scotland has initiated a search for the three individuals believed to be involved in the crash, urging anyone with information to come forward.
